Lead Product Manager - AI Developer Platform

Scribd, Inc.Vancouver, BC
$141,000 - $256,500Hybrid

About The Position

Scribd is building an agentic engineering stack, including AI tools like Claude Code, a plugin marketplace, and an internal app platform. This role is a foundational hire, the first product management role focused internally on the company as the customer. The Lead Product Manager will drive Scribd's agentic transformation, centered around the developer platform. This involves defining the agentic engineering stack and shaping the developer and agentic experience. The role will also extend this thinking outward, partnering with other functions like Product, Design & Research, Data & Analytics, and TPM to redesign their work around AI agents and guide the internal app and agent platforms. The Product Manager will work closely with developers to understand their workflows, identify friction points, and define the future of their experience. Key responsibilities include leading product strategy for developer experience, defining metrics for success, and driving adoption of AI thoughtfully across the company to enhance capability and confidence, not just for the sake of generation. This role reports to the Director, Developer Platform and collaborates with Engineering and Product leadership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience, with a notable focus on owning developer tooling, AI platforms, or internal productivity tools.
  • Demonstrated success owning ambiguous, cross-functional product surfaces end-to-end, including defining strategy, sequencing work, and shipping with engineering partners without a pre-existing playbook.
  • Hands-on experience shipping real products on modern AI/LLM primitives (prompting, evals, tool use, agentic workflows, MCP, plugin or skill ecosystems, or comparable concepts).
  • Strong technical fluency to discuss system design, API tradeoffs, evaluation methodology, and agent architectures with engineers.
  • A track record of being a trusted technical-strategy partner to engineering leadership, with influence at the architecture and roadmap horizon.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to adapt communication style for different audiences (engineers, function leads, executives).
  • Comfort working in conditions where priorities, scope, and ownership are still being defined, and where input is crucial in defining them.

Nice To Haves

  • Background includes engineering, technical program management, or applied AI work in addition to product management.
  • Experience shipping production code at some point in career.
  • Experience as a PM, technical lead, or founder building internal-facing developer tools, AI platforms, or productivity products at scale.
  • Direct experience with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or other agentic coding environments (as a power user, enabler, or builder).
  • Familiarity with the operating realities of a multi-product subscription business and a software stack spanning Ruby, Go, TypeScript, Python, and the AWS/Databricks ecosystem.
  • Prior experience standing up a new function or a new PM role in an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Own the unified agentic enablement roadmap, consolidating in-flight AI workstreams across Engineering, Product, Design & Research, Data & Analytics, and TPM into a cohesive, sequenced roadmap.
  • Define what constitutes shared infrastructure versus function-specific components and make tradeoffs visible to leadership.
  • Act as the product owner for the internal app and agent platforms, defining and driving their product strategy to meet the real needs of each function.
  • Partner with Developer Platform and Data Platform engineering teams to build underlying capabilities.
  • Translate between functions and the platform by understanding workflows, gathering requirements, and communicating platform capabilities.
  • Drive cross-functional commitments to closure for shared infrastructure like canonical context, evaluation practice, plugin marketplace, and internal app platform.
  • Make agentic enablement legible to the company by defining and reporting on key metrics (adoption, throughput, time recovered, evaluation quality, impact).
  • Build the narrative to gain buy-in from every function.
  • Partner on go-to-market strategies for internal users, including rollouts, education, and feedback loops to drive measurable adoption.
  • Treat internal rollouts with the same rigor as external launches.
