About The Position

H&R Block is investing in an AI-first future to transform how we serve our clients, and we're expanding our Product Design organization to help build the next generation of digital experiences. As a Lead Product Designer, you'll own and shape core product experiences for an early-stage digital product, working closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Design Engineers to bring ideas to life. You'll contribute to experience strategy, interaction design, usability research, and prototyping, with AI tools integrated into both the products we create and our day-to-day design workflow. This is a highly hands-on role where you'll design end-to-end user journeys, build and test prototypes, participate in user research, and partner with engineering teams through delivery. Your work will directly influence how millions of clients experience H&R Block's future digital products.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
8 years minimum related work experience
Strong portfolio showing end-to-end product design work: flows, interaction design, and visual craft
Experience designing and testing prototypes with real users, and translating findings into design decisions
Ability to work in iterative development cycles with engineering and product management
Clear written and verbal communication, including presenting work to stakeholders and leadership
Comfort with ambiguity: able to take a loosely defined problem and drive toward a validated design direction

Nice To Haves

Experience designing AI-powered or conversational product experiences
Experience with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools
Background in fintech, financial services, or other regulated industries
Experience contributing to or working within an enterprise design system
Familiarity with moderated and unmoderated research methods
Experience supporting new product initiatives from concept through launch

Responsibilities

Design end-to-end user experiences and product workflows
Create wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs to bring concepts to life
Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Design Engineers
Participate in user research and usability testing activities
Validate design solutions through testing, feedback, and iteration
Translate customer and business needs into intuitive product experiences
Use AI tools as part of the design and prototyping process
Contribute to product strategy and experience direction for a new digital product
Support implementation and delivery by collaborating closely with engineering teams
Continuously improve experiences based on user insights and product learnings
