About The Position

The Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer drives cross-group platform initiatives, including identity, configuration, and API gateways, with significant impact on reliability, performance, and compliance. The role anticipates and resolves ambiguous distributed-systems problems, sets compatibility and deprecation strategies to minimize downstream risk, establishes shared observability frameworks, service-level objectives (SLOs), and capacity models used by multiple teams, and defines architectural guardrails, security controls, and reference implementations in partnership with SRE and security teams. The engineer leads software development and architecture initiatives, establishes platform interoperability and client-library governance, and provides technical direction, coaching, and subject-matter expertise across teams. The position also leads complex issue resolution, customer-support and defect-handling strategies, security and compliance practices, system maintenance and reliability improvements, and high-impact project planning. It works with internal and external stakeholders to align architecture and solutions with organizational and customer goals, while promoting continuous learning, improvement, and talent development.
