About The Position

The Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer drives cross-group platform initiatives, such as identity, configuration, and API gateways, with significant impact on reliability, performance, and compliance. The role anticipates and resolves ambiguous distributed-systems problems; establishes compatibility and deprecation strategies to reduce downstream risk; and creates shared observability frameworks, service-level objectives, and capacity models used by multiple teams. In partnership with Site Reliability Engineering and security, the engineer defines architectural guardrails, security controls, and reference implementations. The role leads software design and development initiatives, sets platform interoperability and client-library governance standards, and owns programs with measurable reliability and performance outcomes. It provides organization-wide technical leadership in software architecture, coding, testing, optimization, API lifecycle management, customer issue resolution, security and compliance practices, and system maintenance. The engineer also guides cross-functional planning and execution, addresses complex escalations, champions continuous improvement and learning, and contributes to talent assessment and development.
