About The Position

The Childcare Lead Teacher plans lessons and instructs children through activities based on an approved curriculum designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. The role establishes and maintains a safe, healthy learning environment, supports center functions, and builds positive relationships with families. The position also provides direction to other classroom staff and ensures the classroom follows its daily schedule and applicable policies and regulations. Discovery Point describes this role as an opportunity to contribute to children’s learning and well-being in a nurturing, supportive environment. Each franchise location is independently owned and operated; applications and hiring decisions are handled by the franchisee and location management.

Requirements

Meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
Have knowledge of early childhood education and curriculum.
Have knowledge of child care licensing rules and regulations.
Be able to obtain training in CPR, fire safety, and other required training.
Have a CDA or degree in early childhood education.
Meet all state requirements for a lead teacher.

Responsibilities

Implement weekly curricula that address all learning goals.
Provide direction to other staff in the classroom.
Organize and follow the daily schedule.
Follow state and Discovery Point policies and regulations.
Communicate in a friendly, professional manner with parents, staff, and management.
Maintain a welcoming, upbeat, positive classroom atmosphere.
Maintain classroom safety and cleanliness.
Plan lessons and instruct children in activities that support social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development.
Promote and participate in center functions.
Communicate with and develop positive relationships with family members.
