About The Position

This position leads the coordination of divisional programs for internal controls for one or more insurance companies. Responds to state compliance requests, provides consultation, guidance, and direction to internal business partners. Responsible for monitoring of operational controls that may include vendor management, consumer complaints, record retention, product compliance and overall division quality. This position is responsible for establishing, monitoring and providing oversight or acting as a liaison for compliance programs, processes and department of insurance examinations, as well as making recommendations to leadership on compliance matters that affect the product portfolio, forms, systems, processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing compliance and risk control programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.
  • Advanced knowledge of compliance as it relates to underwriting and claims or specialized area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, managing, and/or leading projects or initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, methodologies, and tools.
  • Demonstrated effective experience leading people and/or projects; or, demonstrated effective leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Leads, trains and mentors other team members and external business partners.
  • Reviews and interprets statutes, mandates and case law and is a primary researcher of industry language necessary for the introduction of policy forms for state expansion, new product and product enhancements.
  • Facilitates cross divisional workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote continuous learning within the team.
  • Drives innovation within area of expertise and explores opportunities for process improvement.
  • May develop and prepare filings of language for contracts, forms and endorsements by collaborating with all enterprise stakeholders.
  • Communicates policy intent for key stakeholders. This includes expert testimony and/or depositions in legal cases, as needed.
  • Creates and maintains business rules and technical requirements.
  • Reviews, proposes and enacts legislation to determine form changes that may or will be needed to remain compliant.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other lines to identify product gaps and opportunities.
  • Works with key stakeholders including: state management, claims, Claims/Corporate Legal, Government Affairs, Pricing/Actuarial, Operations, etc. to ensure product compliance.
  • Serves as subject matter expert in development of contract language and/or underwriting guidelines.
  • May be required to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.
