About The Position

The Backup as a Service (BaaS) Engineering team engineers and supports enterprise data protection and recovery capabilities that help ensure the availability, recoverability, and resiliency of critical technology services. The Lead Platform Engineer contributes to the design, engineering, automation, and continuous improvement of backup, recovery, and cyber resiliency solutions across complex technology environments. The role works with infrastructure, application, database, cloud, and cyber resiliency teams to integrate data protection requirements, improve operational efficiency through programming and automation, and support reliable recovery capabilities. It combines hands-on platform engineering with programming, technology management, troubleshooting, and technical leadership to modernize and strengthen enterprise data protection services. DTCC offers a flexible/hybrid work model with three days onsite and two days remote; onsite days include Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and a third day determined by the team or employee. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, and six years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, cyber resiliency, backup engineering, or a related discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Six years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, cyber resiliency, backup engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong programming and scripting experience with Python and Shell scripting, such as Bash, KornShell, or PowerShell.
  • Experience developing API integrations, automation workflows, and Infrastructure as Code solutions for enterprise backup, recovery, and resiliency platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery technologies.
  • Experience supporting highly available and business-critical systems.
  • Experience with cyber recovery, disaster recovery, or resiliency engineering practices.
  • Strong understanding of Linux and Windows server platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives without direct management authority.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, support, and continuously improve enterprise Backup as a Service (BaaS) and data protection technologies for critical business and technology environments.
  • Design and implement reliable, scalable, and resilient backup, recovery, replication, retention, and data protection solutions across supported infrastructure platforms.
  • Develop programming, scripting, API integrations, and automation to reduce manual operational activity, improve reliability, and modernize backup and recovery processes.
  • Support the engineering and integration of cyber resiliency and cyber recovery capabilities, including immutable data protection, recovery readiness, and recovery validation.
  • Provide senior-level technical troubleshooting and engineering support for complex backup, restore, recovery, performance, capacity, and platform issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, database, storage, cloud, architecture, security, and cyber resiliency teams to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
  • Support onboarding applications and technology platforms into enterprise data protection services, assessing backup methods, recovery requirements, retention, capacity, and operational support needs.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between backup platforms and enterprise technologies using APIs, scripting, automation frameworks, monitoring, reporting, and Infrastructure as Code where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize BaaS capabilities through automation, orchestration, standardization, observability, and engineering improvements.
  • Participate in technology evaluations, proofs of concept, platform upgrades, and strategic engineering initiatives for enterprise backup and cyber resiliency capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering standards, operational procedures, runbooks, and recovery documentation for production operations, audit, risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to engineers, serving as a senior technical resource for backup, recovery, automation, and resiliency technologies.
  • Apply software engineering and technology management practices to keep solutions supportable, maintainable, secure, and operationally sustainable throughout their lifecycle.
  • Support recovery testing and exercises, analyze results, identify technology gaps, and drive engineering improvements.
  • Align risk and control processes with day-to-day responsibilities to identify, monitor, mitigate, and appropriately escalate technology and operational risks.
  • Prepare, maintain, and execute resiliency test scenarios based on non-functional requirements and resiliency principles.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, including base pay and annual incentive.
  • Comprehensive health and life insurance and well-being benefits, based on location.
