About The Position

This role will oversee an Oncology Infusion Pharmacy. This will include sterile compounding oversight, inventory management, and order verification. These roles are responsible for the administration, preparation, dispensing, and management of medications and other health products to ensure safe and effective patient care. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work in various settings, including pharmacies, the UVA hospitals, clinics, and research facilities. These roles are responsible for dispensing medications, providing drug therapy consultations, and ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals. Pharmacists collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient treatment plans, offer medication counseling, and oversee the preparation and distribution of medications in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients. May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. Requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools through extensive work experience and require vocational or technical education. Works under limited supervision for non-routine situations and may be responsible for leading daily operations. Trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower-level employees. Problems typically are typically difficult and non-routine but not complex.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • PGY1-required or 3 years of equivalent hospital experience
  • Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License
  • BLS required
  • Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to write legibly
