About The Position

The City is looking for a dependable Lead Park Ranger to help protect our parks, support visitors, and lead part-time ranger staff. This position works primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, noise, machinery, and other outdoor conditions. Weekend, holiday, special event, and on-call work is required.

Requirements

Strong customer service and communication skills.
Good judgment and problem-solving abilities.
Leadership skills and the ability to direct part-time staff.
Knowledge of park operations and grounds maintenance.
Ability to safely operate tools and maintenance equipment.
Ability to work well with the public, coworkers, and emergency personnel.
High school diploma or equivalent with related specialized training or experience.
One to three years of relevant park, grounds maintenance, public safety, or related experience.
Valid Texas driver's license, or ability to obtain one.
Ability to complete required training and work weekends, holidays, special events, and on-call schedules.

Responsibilities

Patrol parks, trails, and facilities to promote safety and enforce park rules and city ordinances.
Assist and educate visitors about park programs, events, rules, and wildlife protection.
Respond to emergencies, injuries, disturbances, vandalism, and other incidents.
Conduct safety inspections and report maintenance or environmental concerns.
Perform basic park and grounds maintenance.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and grounds maintenance equipment.
Prepare reports and maintain records of daily activities and incidents.
Schedule and direct part-time park ranger staff.
Assist with special events, community outreach, and park programs.
Work with law enforcement, emergency personnel, and other City departments as needed.
