About The Position

This role is for a Lead Paraprofessional within the WSTA program for the SY26-27 school year. The ideal candidate is an experienced paraprofessional within the CPS district with a strong desire to mentor and train new paraprofessionals. This position involves guiding new hires, assisting them with district navigation, providing support for technical issues, and tracking consultation logs.

Requirements

  • Must be a paraprofessional in CPS.
  • Must have worked 5+ years in the district.
  • Must have experience training other new paraprofessionals in the district.
  • Must have demonstrated expertise as a paraprofessional.
  • Must have excitement to teach other paraprofessionals how to be successful in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Train and guide new paraprofessionals to excel in the position.
  • Introduce new paraprofessionals to staff members and help them navigate who to go to for various tasks.
  • Provide information on important dates/deadlines and guidance on other various topics related to the role.
  • Support with navigating technical issues.
  • Provide support for new paras (in their first 2 years of employment) during the school day (2 half-hour sessions per month) and during up to 2 hours per month after the regular workday, as designated by the Principal.
  • Keep a log of the number of paraprofessionals who consulted with the Lead para and the nature of the topics raised.
  • Track hours on time sheets and submit to the Clerk.
  • Attend 4-6 district-wide meetings throughout the school year.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate for assigned time after school by the Principal.
  • $100 per month during the school year (up to 10 months).
