About The Position

The Lead Painter applies paint to walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. The role also prepares surfaces by removing old paint and finishes, filling cracks and holes, and smoothing surfaces. Work is indoors for the majority of the time. The position offers guaranteed 40 hours, a schedule of four 10-hour days with three-day weekends, transportation, and covered meals and hotels. Some overnight travel may be required. The role includes following company and healthcare-center safety standards, maintaining good workmanship, attending required in-services and continuing education, and supporting surveys and reports when needed. The employee must perform duties as directed by supervisors and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
2–4 years of experience.
Some overnight travel may be required.
Ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hand, and wrist.
Ability to keep the hand and arm steady while moving or holding them in one position.
Ability to properly use tools and equipment needed for the job.
Ability to produce work that meets PruittHealth’s quality standards.
Ability to follow company and healthcare-center safety standards.
Demonstrated good workmanship in a neat and timely manner.
Ability to perform job duties as directed by supervisors.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
Ability to exercise independent judgment within the limits of the position.

Responsibilities

Apply paint to buildings and other structures with brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
Cover surfaces with drop cloths, masking tape, and paper to protect them during painting.
Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers.
Remove fixtures such as doorknobs and switch covers before painting.
Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, and wire brushing.
Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, and steel wool.
Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to work above ground level.
Assist with center or agency surveys and any required reports when needed.
Attend continuing education programs to stay current in the field and maintain required licenses or certifications.
Attend mandatory in-services.
Honor patients’ and residents’ rights, including fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights.
Comply with the corporate compliance program.
Report job-related functions or tasks that involve occupational hazards.
Follow established safety regulations and procedures, including fire protection and prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, and safe equipment use.
Perform other related duties as necessary and as directed by a supervisor.
