About The Position

The Lead Painter is responsible for performing advanced painting and surface preparation work while serving as a technical resource for the painting team. This position provides guidance, shares expertise, and promotes best practices throughout the paint team. The Lead Painter helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of industrial paint experience required
  • Must be able to safely perform single or repeated manual lifts of up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to read and understand the manual on the paint machine, as well as the paint spray gun.
  • Demonstrated expertise in painting techniques, surface preparation methods, and coating applications.
  • Ability to work with Experience serving as a subject matter expert, mentor, or informal team leader.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Prior Lead or related roles experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource and role model for painting team members by sharing knowledge and demonstrating best practices.
  • Assist in coordinating work activities and identifying priorities to support project timelines.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with other teams and management, as applicable, to resolve paint challenges.
  • Inspect completed work, as needed, and recommend corrective actions to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Assist in implementing the corrective actions across the paint team.
  • Partner with management as needed in estimating materials and labor requirements.
  • Perform all Painter tasks including but not limited to: Responsible for set up and operation of paint equipment for both AFS product lines.
  • Monitor the flow and viscosity of the paint for solutions and adjusts nozzles on spray guns as needed to obtain the proper dispersion of spray.
  • Perform all cleaning preventative maintenance to ensure that painting apparatus and area remains in working order.
  • Initiate and maintain all applicable paperwork as required.
  • Monitor and report any equipment issues promptly.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training for skill development.
  • Perform other duties as required
