About The Position

Rappahannock Orthodontics is seeking an experienced Lead Orthodontist to serve their established practices in Fredericksburg and Stafford, Virginia. This role is for a doctor who will become an important part of these practices, building trust with patients, guiding team members, and being recommended by families in the community. The position offers more influence without increased administrative burden, allowing the orthodontist to focus on treating patients, building relationships, leading the team, and growing the practices, with support from Southern Orthodontic Partners for administrative functions. The ideal candidate will have clinical confidence and a natural inclination to take ownership, notice areas for improvement, communicate effectively, build trust, and understand that practice success is built one patient, one team member, and one relationship at a time. The role involves setting expectations for clinical excellence, communication, patient experience, teamwork, and accountability, and partnering with practice and operational teams to identify strengths, solve challenges, and drive continuous improvement. The Lead Orthodontist will think beyond individual production to consider overall practice performance, team well-being, patient referrals, community relationships, and growth opportunities.

Requirements

DDS or DMD from an accredited dental education program.
Certificate of completion from an accredited postgraduate orthodontic program.
Current Virginia dental license or eligibility to obtain one.
Previous orthodontic practice experience.
Ability to support a full-time, four-day clinical schedule.
Flexibility to support patient access and the needs of both practice locations.
Previous orthodontic practice experience.
