About The Position

Responsible for the protection of all CDS property assets, guests, and team members. Assists with the training of new and current employees' duty positions for the Security Department. Serves as acting supervisor in the absence of the assigned supervisor, overseeing staff and operations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport materials and/or equipment on a frequent basis up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, pull, kneel, squat, twist, and bend for duties.
  • Must be able to travel to other CDS properties, or any other events necessary for this specific role.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
  • Must have computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests and team members in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
  • Knowledge of security and fire inspection procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of casino internal control procedures, Tribal, Federal, State, and local gaming laws, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of administrative work activities appropriate to the assignment, conduct oral and/or written communications as required.
  • Knowledge of First Aid, AED, CPR, and other safety related practices.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Skill in observing situations and decision making.
  • Skill in dealing courteously and professionally with the public.
  • Ability to compile thoughts in a clear and understandable manner for instructing classes.
  • Ability to influence employees to learn training concepts and reasons.
  • Ability to provide conscientious effort; accuracy; sensitivity in dealing with others; logical analysis in problem solving.
  • Ability to logically approach, but considers all guest (internal/external), sincerity in assisting people.
  • Ability to read, write, fill out related forms, and take tests.
  • Ability to train utilizing various types of security equipment (i.e., batons, handcuffs, self-defense, etc.).
  • Ability to attend all training sessions/meetings as requested; gives simulated situations for security officers to promote thinking processes.
  • Ability to operate and communicate through a two-way portable radio to coordinate and dispatch information to all other radio users.
  • Ability to follow established procedures; clarification of policies before proceeding; self-control to work steadily for completion of project; some solo efforts.
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced work environment and under pressure.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in Law Enforcement or Security field.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license/background check.

Responsibilities

  • Train employees in specific shift duties and general knowledge in preparation for quality control evaluation.
  • Ensures security training standards are properly documented.
  • Works with trainee(s) to ensure correct standardized methods are performed; the STO will observe trainee and correct actions, as necessary.
  • Report all activities of assigned trainee, while performing the job of Security Officer.
  • Identifying and reporting further training needs.
  • Conducting classroom instruction to security.
  • Assist with any special function as requested by Security Captain or Manager.
  • Ensures Security Officers effectively patrol the GED to maintain the safety and security of people and property.
  • Patrols the property on assigned shift, identifies potential security and/or safety hazards, and either takes corrective action or reports it to the appropriate individual for corrective action.
  • Conducts briefings at the start of a shift to inform Security Officers of pertinent information regarding the job or the GED.
  • Conducts investigations and collects evidence, as necessary.
  • Prepares and/or requests reports on incidents involving guests, team members, and the facility.
  • Reviews reports for completeness, accuracy, and identifies activities that need follow-up; provides written and oral reports to supervisor.
  • Utilizes GED emergency action guides to efficiently handle fires, evacuations, robbery attempts, and life-threatening situations; decides what actions to take based on the situation, facts known, and position limitations.
  • Acts as On Scene Commander during emergency procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of special events in order to advise guests and team members.
  • Prepares schedules and adjusts staffing levels according to business levels and conditions to ensure adequate coverage during a shift.
  • Supervises and develops Security Officers on assigned shift by mentoring, coaching, and providing performance feedback; works collaboratively with them to design professional development plans that support their continuous learning.
  • Enforces performance standards, policies, and procedures in accordance with the GED’s expectations and within scope of authority.
