Lead Mental Health Technician - Nights
About The Position
Three Trails Behavioral Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lead Mental Health Technician to join its overnight team in the Independence, Missouri area. This role combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, serving as a resource to staff and helping ensure safe, effective, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity behavioral health setting. The Lead Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care and supervision, supports MHT staff during the shift, and helps maintain a structured and therapeutic environment. The hospital is a new facility expected to open in the second half of 2026. It will provide inpatient behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, with 120 licensed beds.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy.
- Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain it upon hire.
- Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and supervision in a behavioral health setting.
- Act as a shift resource for MHT staff, offering guidance and support as needed.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times.
- Conduct routine patient safety checks and observations.
- Support patients with daily living activities as appropriate.
- Respond appropriately to situations and behavioral escalations.
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to support patient care plans.
