About The Position

The Lead Medical Assistant assists management with the day-to-day clinic operations related to medical support and patient care. The role requires strong clinical skills and knowledge of relevant systems and processes. The Lead Medical Assistant models, trains, and promotes effective clinical support across staff experience levels, while supporting high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Internal candidates: Certification and two years of tenure with OSUP, including one year in a Senior role; or two years of OSUP tenure, including one year in a Senior role, and at least seven years of prior Medical Assistant experience, which may include internal or external experience.
External candidates: Two years of certification or seven years of overall Medical Assistant experience.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a preceptor designation.
Current BLS certification.
Experience with an EMR.
Medical Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

Successfully performs the responsibilities of a Senior Medical Assistant.
Leads the day-to-day work and productivity of patient care staff.
Advises and assists staff with resolving patient or customer concerns and clinic-operation issues.
Performs routine specialized medical procedures according to established clinical protocols.
Serves as a clinical preceptor to enhance staff training and address skill deficiencies.
Assists management with scheduling, daily work assignments, hiring, training, employee engagement, performance management, identifying service or operational improvements, reinforcing management expectations, and scheduling.
