Lead Mechanical Engineer

Eaton CorporationRaleigh, NC
$124,051 - $179,300

About The Position

Eaton's division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer. The expected annual salary range for this role is $124,051 - $179,300 a year. This salary information is a general guideline and actual salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the integration of mechanical and electrical components for battery platforms by creating structured 3D-CAD assemblies and using state-of-the-art FEA tools to ensure designs meet or exceed requirements. This role will lead mechanical design and development activities and demonstrate start-to-finish ownership for assigned projects and tasks. Responsibilities include performing mechanical design (e.g., 3D CAD modeling, FEA structural analysis) of components and assemblies, developing technical requirements, identifying components for designs, creating technical reports and presentations, performing engineering analysis to define critical design parameters and predict design latitude, and conducting lab activities like prototyping and measurement. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional team members such as electrical engineers and lab technicians to successfully develop and validate designs, and evaluating designs to meet requirements factoring in performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in integrating mechanical and electrical components for battery platforms by creating structured 3D CAD assemblies and using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Six (6) years of experience in Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
  • Six (6) years of experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability.
  • Six (6) years of experience in 3D CAD modeling.
