About The Position

ForceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to deliver mission-focused technical solutions from concept through deployment and sustainment. The role partners across disciplines to translate requirements into executable designs that meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives. The Mechanical Engineer designs, analyzes, and develops mechanical or electro-mechanical solutions supporting ForceX mission products. The role supports concept-to-production execution with focus on reliability, manufacturability, and program outcomes. This level is a subject matter expert role with comprehensive job-area knowledge and deep project management capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • 9+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis for complex products.
  • 9+ years of experience interpreting customer technical requirements and translating them into implementable design artifacts.
  • 9+ years of experience with material, component, and process selection decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline preferred; Engineering preferred, Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science acceptable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with environmental and qualification testing, for example MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly practices.
  • Experience in root-cause analysis and corrective-action implementation.
  • Experience with mechanical modeling and design workflows for complex assemblies, cabling and harnesses, and packaging constraints in Creo 10.
  • Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance with minimal oversight.
  • Communicates across organizational boundaries to explain and influence changes to technical practices and approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Execute engineering work products from requirements through verification and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware, software, and operational constraints into practical solutions.
  • Conduct technical analysis, risk identification, and trade studies to support design decisions.
  • Present technical status, issues, and recommendations in formal and informal reviews.
  • Contribute to proposal, planning, and execution activities aligned to program milestones.
  • Support compliance with customer, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Travel up to 25% to support integration, test, customer engagement, and program execution.
  • Support work performed in a classified and or controlled environment.
  • Design, layout, test, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or subsystems.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to validate design robustness and reliability.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design documentation, and recommendation packages for review.
  • Partner with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to mature integrated designs.
  • Support prototype build, test, issue resolution, and transition to production.
  • Develop detailed mechanical models, layouts, and design packages supporting prototype and production release.
