Sargent & Lundy•Chicago, IL
•$118,023 - $180,313•Hybrid

About The Position

This is a lead-level mechanical engineering role supporting mission-critical projects. The position leads mechanical design engineering efforts on multidisciplinary project teams, applying mechanical engineering expertise to special-purpose equipment, pressure vessels, interfacing systems, controls, and structural support elements. Work includes preparing and reviewing calculations, mechanical designs, specifications, reports, and studies, as well as documenting design input for drawing production. The engineer monitors assigned staff on technical matters, mentors junior engineers, and maintains work within project schedules and budgets. The position also involves developing budgets, schedules, and work plans for single-discipline or simple-scope projects; communicating with vendors; and participating directly in customer project meetings. The position offers a hybrid arrangement with a mix of work from home and in-office work. The role is part of Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division, which provides engineering design and consulting support to U.S. Department of Energy sites and national laboratories. Work may support environmental cleanup, nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal, or the safe handling and processing of nuclear material.
