About The Position

Eaton’s division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer. This role is located at our facility in Moon Township, PA (20 minutes west of downtown Pittsburgh, PA). A hybrid work schedule of 3 days in office/2 days remote is available. Our Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will have the responsibility of the overall mechanical design of new technologies. This will include design and analysis of the necessary components. This position will work closely with the Commercial and Industrial Product Managers from four different divisions, Center of Excellences, Eaton Research Labs and Global Product Lines to develop technologies in an organized and expedient fashion. In addition, this role will also be responsible for the prototyping and testing activities for the ARS Innovation projects. Responsibility includes meeting the overall project schedule and budget. This role encompasses collaborating with all aspects of product development including the mechanical and electrical team working groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Five (5)+ years of design, modeling, and simulation experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • Familiarity with all design, manufacturing and regulatory (UL, CE, etc.)
  • Exposure to project management tools
  • Proven cross-functional interpersonal and leadership skills plus people development as a coach/mentor
  • Experience working with international suppliers and/or customers.
  • Experience working with remote engineering resources

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, control, and lead multiple simultaneous projects with local and remote teams.
  • Coordinate with marketing to ensure project specifications are clear, complete, achievable, and consistent with voice of the customer.
  • Ensure design progression via CAD modeling, simulation, analysis, drawing release, testing plan creation, test review, and coordinate with internal and third-party compliance (UL and CSA).
  • Ensure project prototyping budget and product target cost requirements are being met.
  • Conduct design reviews as well as the Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA) sessions to identify project risks and develop response plans.
  • Responsible for project management activities designated in Eaton PRE/PROLaunch (Six-Sigma) process.
  • In conjunction with other team members present the project status at Executive Tollgate Sessions.
