This role is responsible for leading mechanical design activities for datacenter transceivers, ensuring technical milestones are met, guiding team members' designs, and leading technical design reviews. The engineer will ensure alignment between specification requirements and design outputs, and must have demonstrated experience releasing products into a production environment.

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge developing high complexity projects that have required one of more of Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies: Tolerance Analysis, DFM, Serviceability.
  • Detailed knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD (SolidWorks), Thermal Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Manufacturing Principles, Interference Checks.
  • Mechanical ownership of product development and validation.
  • Production release experience.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (BSME/MSME/PhD or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years experience in mech design and / or verification or other key competency.
  • Effectively communicate with good understanding of English.
  • Work as part of a global team.
  • Assess a project and articulating risk while developing project milestones.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct datacenter transceiver experience (OSFP/QSFP/optical modules preferred) is extremely helpful.
  • Thermal/mechanical architecture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities for datacenter transceivers.
  • Ensure technical milestones are achieved.
  • Guide other team members' designs and lead technical design reviews.
  • Ensure specification requirements input and design outputs align.
  • Develop and validate datacenter transceivers.
  • Lead chassis and PCB mechanical layouts utilizing standard tools.
  • Direct all aspects of mechanical design with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor, coach, and train engineers with less experience.
  • Partner with system architects to review and clarify design requirements and define the appropriate mechanical/thermal architecture.
  • Assemble prototypes, and verify form/fit/function.
  • Work with and manage external component suppliers/manufacturers and provide input to their product roadmaps.
  • Communicate technical aspects of a project effectively to internal and external suppliers.
  • Define design innovations and potential patentable solutions.
  • Lead resolution of complex design issues and manage design trade-offs.
  • Mechanical ownership of product development and validation.
  • Production release experience.
  • Lead ME projects with multiple engineers assigned.
  • Lead cross-functional and ME design reviews.
