Lead Mechanical/Construction Engineer
About The Position
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is hiring a Lead Mechanical/Construction Engineer to work at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. This role involves supporting facilities engineering, maintenance, and operations at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center. The engineer will provide mechanical engineering expertise for facility projects throughout their lifecycle, from planning and design to construction, operations, and quality assurance. Responsibilities include coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing documentation. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background investigation. Occasional travel within the United States may be required.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in construction management.
- Prior experience in mechanical design and facility project management.
- Possess strong technical and leadership skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
- Must be eligible to obtain a NASA Public Trust clearance.
Nice To Haves
- A Professional Engineer Certificate is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Support facilities engineering, maintenance, and operations at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center.
- Provides mechanical engineering expertise for facility projects including planning, design, construction, operations, and quality assurance.
- Provides support in areas such as planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews, inspections, and test witnessing for contractor performed facility work.
- Coordinate with project managers, operations specialists, and stakeholders to identify conditions, document requirements, and communicate project status.
- Ensure compliance with NASA, federal, state, and local regulations and facility standards.
- Support configuration management, drawing updates, and facility documentation control.
