About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Mechanical Construction Engineer for its Construction Management and Inspection Services Department. This role will focus on projects for public clients in New York and New Jersey, primarily involving municipal infrastructure improvements such as pump stations. Requirements

2 years of experience inspecting construction work.
High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Must be able to work day and night shifts and extended working hours as needed.
Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.
Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
Ability to repetitively stoop, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 25 lbs (including body weight, equipment, tools, and boxes).
Ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
NICET II or Engineer-in-Training certification.
Trained in OSHA 10-hour construction safety, fall protection, confined space, and permit-required confined space entry.

Responsibilities

Proactively identify field issues and develop solutions to maintain project momentum.
Review construction plans and specifications.
Inspect public infrastructure projects including roadways, bridges, utilities, and structures to ensure compliance with contract documents and applicable codes.
Prepare and process construction records such as RFIs, submittals, progress pay applications, extra work billings, and contract change orders.
Document all field activities.
Collaborate effectively with owners and contractors.
Represent Dewberry and its clients professionally.
Utilize common computer programs like MS Word and Excel for daily diaries, quantity calculations, and other tasks.
