About The Position

The Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations while providing hands-on mechanical support. This role ensures equipment and vehicles are maintained safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. In addition to performing advanced diagnostics and repairs, the Lead Mechanic guides and supports technicians, manages workflow, and drives high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems for tracking maintenance and work orders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with equipment, vehicle, or industrial maintenance
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and working with tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform work in shop, warehouse, yard, or field environments
  • Comfortability with exposure to machinery, tools, and varying environmental conditions
  • Flexibility to work extended hours based on operational needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with diagnostic tools and service management systems preferred
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a mechanical or service environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment and vehicles
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance
  • Inspect equipment for safety, functionality, and compliance with standards
  • Respond to breakdowns and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
  • Lead, mentor, and support mechanics and service technicians
  • Assign and prioritize daily work based on operational needs
  • Monitor quality of work, productivity, and adherence to standards
  • Provide training and guidance to improve team technical skills
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of work orders
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and track equipment performance
  • Order and manage parts, tools, and supplies
  • Review and ensure accuracy of service documentation and work orders
  • Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Conduct safety checks and ensure proper use of PPE
  • Report and address safety concerns, equipment issues, or incidents
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize processes
  • Collaborate with operations and other departments to support business needs
  • Stay current on maintenance practices, tools, and technologies
  • Perform additional duties as needed
