Schedule and perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment and vehicles including (not limited to) forklifts, pickups, log handling machines (950 up to 988 Loaders, and shovel), welders, pressure washers, dump trucks and log trucks, shop plant equipment and manlifts. This role is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing various systems on heavy equipment, including mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, high voltage generators, propane powered equipment, and pneumatic systems. The Lead Mechanic will troubleshoot malfunctions, perform routine maintenance checks, communicate with operators to identify and repair problems, maintain regular service intervals, and document actions in maintenance records. They will also fabricate, modify, and install special equipment or replacement parts, coordinate with outside agencies for repairs, and maintain adequate supply levels. Additionally, this role involves inspecting and repairing diesel-powered vehicles/equipment, performing incidental welding, and demonstrating continuous effort to improve operations and customer service.
