About The Position

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining facility infrastructure and systems to support safe, efficient manufacturing operations. This role leads facility improvement projects from concept through completion, ensures compliance with regulatory and preventative maintenance standards, and manages departmental budgets and capital investments. Key responsibilities include coordinating facility initiatives with operations, managing third-party service contracts, and providing technical support for complex mechanical and electrical issues. The Facilities Engineer drives continuous improvement through process optimization, cost reduction, and reliability initiatives, while supporting new product introductions and maintaining production readiness. This position requires hands-on problem solving, strong project management skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams. The role also includes on-call support for facility-related emergencies, and requires flexibility to work weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or facilities engineering, or equivalent technical experience
  • Minimum of 5 years facilities engineering experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Must be willing to work weekends.
  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Manufacturing & Facility Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of reliability concepts ( MTTR, MTBF, probability of failure, condition monitoring, etc)
  • Experience with CMMS and equipment failure data analysis.
  • Experience with Industrial IoT technology.
  • Understanding of CAPEX engineering projects or equipment installation.
  • Experience with equipment and control systems, including Allen Bradley, FANUC, and Siemens.

Responsibilities

  • Plan projects for facility improvements from concept to completion
  • Implement effective preventative maintenance programs and ensures that all compliance standards are maintained and regulatory maintenance is executed
  • Forecast budgets for the Facilities department and monitor throughout the year
  • Coordinate facilities initiatives with Operations team to support production
  • Ensure that equipment and services purchased are competitively bid, acceptable quality and cost effective
  • Develop and coordinate department proposals for facilities projects
  • Be on call for all facilities related emergencies
  • Negotiate, maintain and review contracts for all third party facilities contractors
  • Experience conducting engineering assessments of facility systems to support planning for capital acquisitions and infrastructure improvements.
  • Work with manufacturing engineers to perform equipment modifications, upgrades, make control logic changes, and provide updated training and documentation as required.
  • Provide hands-on problem-solving support to site facility, maintenance, and production manufacturing teams
  • Champion capital investment projects, budget coordination, and cost benefit analysis
  • Diagnose and resolve problems that affect site safety, quality, or productivity
  • Prepare capital cost justifications and manage delegated appropriations
  • Perform practical problem solving of plant infrastructure, production processes and related equipment
  • Reduce common cause DPMO (Defects per Million Opportunities) variation found in processes
  • Develop cost reduction projects via value analysis
  • Perform capacity analysis evaluations
  • Drive process improvement best practices supporting Safety, Lean, and Ergonomic initiatives across all plant operations
  • Ensure that manufacturing premises are fully operational, maintained, and clean. This is manufacturing specific and does not include gardeners, caterers, etc.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline.
  • Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
  • In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
  • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
