About The Position

This is a Full-time, 1st Shift position for a Lead Maintenance Trades Specialist (HVAC) at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with a rotating on-call schedule. This role involves performing preventive maintenance and technical repairs on complex facility systems, diagnosing and implementing repairs for multiple utility, infrastructure, and life safety systems. The specialist will install, replace, and maintain building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls systems. Responsibilities also include operating and monitoring advanced utility equipment, maintaining various systems, reading and updating blueprints and drawings, interfacing with vendors and contractors, and coordinating/scheduling required testing and maintenance records.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Industry recognized certification/license requiring Continuing Education Units or periodic renewal to maintain.
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of technical training.
  • 5 or more Years of Experience in relatable industrial/trades maintenance or operations.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight with advanced technical skills in facility maintenance.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced computer skills/competency required in using and operating systems such as Microsoft Office Platform, Building Automation Systems, Pneumatic Tube Systems.
  • Clear understanding of applicable compliance codes and guidelines.
  • Clear understanding of multiple trades and systems and how they interconnect and support the location.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and technical repairs on complex facility systems.
  • Diagnoses and implements complex repairs for multiple Utility System, Infrastructure and Life Safety Systems.
  • Installs/replace and maintains building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and controls systems.
  • Operates, monitors and maintains advanced utility equipment (generators, plant chillers, steam boilers, fire protection systems, etc.) and provides oversight of building automation systems to maintain and improve system efficiencies.
  • Maintains vacuum, compressed air, and medical gas systems.
  • Reads and updates blueprints, Life Safety drawings and manuals for accurate task completion.
  • Interfaces with vendors, contractors and construction vendors to ensure safe utility interfacing and tie-in.
  • Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and ensuring required testing, calibrations and maintenance records are provided and maintained.
