About The Position

The Lead Maintenance Technician serves as the working technical lead for the maintenance team on shift, combining hands-on equipment maintenance with team coordination, task delegation, and shift-level oversight. This role is the primary point of escalation for technicians during the shift and works closely with the Facilities Supervisor or Manager to ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are executed on time and to standard. The Lead Technician models best practices in safety, workmanship, and documentation while driving accountability and productivity across the team. The position is based in a fulfillment or vault facility operating on a 24/7 schedule. The shift is Sunday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. The work environment includes varying temperatures, noise, and physical demands typical of a warehouse or industrial setting, with PPE required in operational areas. The role may require responding to critical equipment failures outside scheduled shift hours. The next career level is Facilities Supervisor / Maintenance Manager, followed by Manager, Facilities & Maintenance.

  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a lead, senior, or training capacity.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage a team workload, and adapt to changing operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms and experience generating maintenance reports and tracking KPIs, including preventive maintenance completion rate, MTTR, and equipment availability.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to hold team members accountable while fostering a collaborative shift culture.
  • OSHA 30 certification, or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.

  • Provide real-time technical guidance and troubleshooting support, serving as the first escalation point for complex or unresolved maintenance issues.

  • Review and approve completed work orders for accuracy, parts usage, and compliance with maintenance standards before closing them in the CMMS.
  • Identify team skills gaps and provide on-the-job coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with operations supervisors to minimize equipment downtime impacts on fulfillment throughput and SLAs.
  • Enforce safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined-space requirements, hot-work permits, and PPE compliance; address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
  • Assist with spare-parts inventory management, including cycle counts, reorder recommendations, and proper storage.
