About The Position

This Lead Maintenance Plumber position will install, maintain and repair sanitation units, water and gas supply lines, heating systems, and associated fixtures and appliances in residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Lead Plumber design and inspect plumbing systems, perform diagnostics and ensure they comply with regulatory codes. Must be able to lead multiple plumbers, troubleshoot quickly and efficiently, and have strong technical skills.

Requirements

  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
  • Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least four years of related experience required
  • Good working knowledge of water supply, heating, and ventilation systems
  • Must hold a George Master Plumber license or have the ability to obtain the license with an agreed reasonable time
  • Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
  • Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds at times
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
  • Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
  • Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes
  • Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders
  • Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc
  • Repair gas/water utility lines & drainage that serve applicable appliances (dishwashers, kitchen equipment, fireplaces, etc.)
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures
  • Carry out regular maintenance and installation of plumbing systems such as plumbing system cleaning, cracks, and damages on pipes, wear and tear of pipes, grease and soap build-up, and toilet repair
  • Inspect previously installed plumbing systems to ensure function
  • Apply current safety regulations and requirements for the various plumbing systems
  • Follow all current regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections
  • Manage a work log and keep detailed reports of work done at various job sites and provide documentation regarding the plumbing system
  • Assist with new employee training
  • Assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Assist with time management of the team to complete tasks promptly
