About The Position

The Lead Magnet Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership for MRI magnet development programs through electromagnetic design, analysis, verification, and validation activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring MRI magnet designs meet performance, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturability requirements. The engineer will lead and participate in engineering efforts for MRI magnet projects, partnering closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and suppliers to support product development and production objectives. This individual will drive technical ownership of assigned projects, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure program deliverables are executed according to plan. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in electromagnetic design and analysis with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across a global engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, including graduate-level research, in engineering, physics, electromagnetic analysis, or related technical work.
  • Experience performing analytical problem solving and technical investigations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively across engineering and business teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with superconducting magnet design and development.
  • Experience working with cryogenic systems and technologies.
  • Experience with electromagnetic modeling, simulation, and analysis tools used in magnet design and verification.
  • Experience supporting product design within a manufacturing, research, or product development environment.
  • Previous experience working with MRI systems, medical devices, or highly regulated products.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive technical projects and deliver results.
  • Proven ability to identify risks, prioritize tasks, and drive issues to closure.

  • Strong decision-making ability and sound engineering judgment.
  • Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of GE HealthCare engineering tools, processes, and product development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electromagnetic design, analysis, verification, and validation efforts for MRI magnet systems to ensure product requirements are achieved.
  • Perform magnet performance modeling, testing, and system compatibility verification to support MRI product development.
  • Establish and maintain performance, quality, reliability, and vitality objectives for MRI products.
  • Develop innovative design solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and drive successful project execution.
  • Drive technical ownership of assigned magnet development projects from concept through implementation, ensuring milestones, schedules, risks, and deliverables are effectively managed.
  • Provide project leadership for electromagnetic design activities, including requirements development, resource planning, cost estimation, and status reporting.
  • Support compliance and standards testing activities as required.
  • Take on project leadership responsibilities as needed to support Program Managers and Lead Program Integrators.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, engineering processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams to achieve business and technical objectives.
