About The Position

This role involves operating stretch blow molding machines and lift equipment, inspecting and packing rigid-plastic PET containers, and performing scheduled charting and inspections on machines and associated equipment. The position requires a responsible team member to maintain a clean, safe, and effective work environment, adhering to Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements, including Food Safety Compliance. The Lead Machine Operator is accountable for the safety of their team, actively engaging in safety activities, and investigating situations where line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risks. This role also involves completing responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Experience operating stretch blow molding machines.
  • Experience operating lift equipment.
  • Ability to inspect and pack rigid-plastic PET containers.
  • Ability to perform scheduled charting and inspections on machines and associated equipment.
  • Ability to start and stop stretch blow molding machines.
  • Ability to perform routine inspections, cleaning, lubricating, and/or tightening of machine assemblies.
  • Ability to perform container inspections using test equipment, statistical quality methods & visual inspection techniques.
  • Ability to pack containers into boxes/cartons at designated production-line speeds according to specifications & stack packed cartons to build 4 ft. high units.
  • Ability to safely operate lift trucks.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and effective work environment.
  • Ability to apply SPC methodologies for initiating machine adjustments, change materials, assist in changeovers and identify start and stop of out-of-spec production (held ware).
  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for adhering to Food Safety Compliance.
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Ability to support and investigate situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Ability to complete responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Ability to complete daily attendance roster.
  • Ability to delegate daily work assignments.
  • Ability to schedule breaks and assist in relieving operators.
  • Ability to monitor production schedule for upcoming machine/order changes.
  • Ability to verify raw materials are in the facility before needed.
  • Ability to verify completion of production paperwork before submitted.
  • Ability to schedule overtime when necessary using seniority as a tool.
  • Ability to manage employees and administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Ability to enter production and downtime accurately in WebEff database.
  • Ability to act as representative for supervisor in their absence.
  • Ability to follow all Safety, Food Safety, GMP and HACCP practices.
  • Ability to actively lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Ability to lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).
  • Ability to complete incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Ability to set goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
  • Ability to motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
  • Ability to identify and coordinate additional training as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, cleaning, lubricating, and/or tightening of machine assemblies.
