About The Position

This position entails the individual to collaborate in the day-to-day functions of the Diploma Cover Services department. This position necessitates an energetic, self-motivated and meticulous individual to operate multiple machines fluidly while assisting with the leading and monitoring of daily day-to-day functions and personnel oversight of a busy Diploma Cover Services department. The successful candidate must consistently demonstrate the capacity to detect and communicate production quality variations in tandem with organizational, time, and priority-management abilities while coaching members of the DCS team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the production team. Exceptional organizational, leadership, communication and time-management skills are critical for success in this position. Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in Lead or Supervisory position preferred.
  • Experience in presswork, bindery, production and/or quality assurance is preferred but not required.
  • Existing Forklift certification preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation for timely work attendance.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Physically able to push/pull/lift/carry supplies and various works in progress of at least 35-50 pounds.
  • Physically able to bend/kneel/walk/stand, in tandem with cart, stepstools or rolling ladders, to access supplies and various works in progress or other materials as needed in storage rooms or production areas.
  • Fine motor skills, including, but not limited to, the full, complete use of and muscle control required to make precise hand movements, relative to tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, muscle coordination and dexterity.
  • Ability to quickly learn and appropriately utilize internal applications and knowledge bases as needed for timely completion of daily tasks.
  • Ability to read, process and follow written directions and procedures.
  • Ability to begin, continue, or find work without needing to be told or encouraged to do so.
  • Ability to maintain focus and concentration for long periods of time on computer- (seated) or machine-related (standing) tasks.
  • Ability to maintain routine and predictability in dynamic and open manufacturing warehouse environment.
  • Ability to prioritize, accomplish goals within set timeframes, and maintain required metrics as per job specifications.
  • Ability to work in concert with a team or independently, with or without direct supervision/guidance as needed.

  • Ability to assist, support, or work in close and harmonious relationships with all inter- and intra-departmental personnel as needed or requested.
  • Good vision, with or without corrective lenses, to sustain adequate visual focus over a period of time.
  • Ability to consistently comply with established procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area as per company and/or OSHA Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision and performance reviews of the department.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation, monitor team performance, and motivate team members.
  • Make departmental decisions as requested by the department Manager or as is necessitated by their absence.
  • Coach, train and guide employees in Diploma Cover Services standards.
  • Safely and effectively operate one or more bindery machines.
  • Set up, operate, breakdown, and perform preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Validate stock accuracy and quality consistency within the production run and report issues as required.
  • Identify mechanical issues, troubleshoot, and perform and/or assist with necessary repairs.
  • Investigate discrepancies in production standards and collaborate with team members to work toward quick resolution.
  • Prepare and verify stock, supplies, and production materials.
  • Accurately record material usage and production numbers.
  • Assist with all other tasks as assigned, requested, or necessitated.
