About The Position

SSC Services for Education is hiring a full-time Lead Janitor at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. The role keeps buildings clean and orderly and includes heavy cleaning, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; additional scheduling details are provided during the interview. Other openings within the school district may be available. Prior experience in a lead position is required, and the employer is willing to train. The employee collects and disposes of trash, cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, moves equipment and furniture to clean, and returns furniture to its proper placement. The role also includes floor stripping, scrubbing, buffing and refinishing, carpet shampooing, and cleaning walls, windows, furniture, and baseboards. Employees follow approved procedures and applicable guidelines, take initiative to identify areas needing attention, complete supervisor-assigned tasks, and contribute professionally as a member of the team.

Requirements

Prior experience in a lead position is required.

Responsibilities

Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures and infection control plans.
Dust and damp-mop floors according to approved procedures.
Move equipment and furniture for cleaning and return furniture to its correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using assigned materials and equipment, sanitize surfaces, and follow the eight-step cleaning procedure.
Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Perform tasks in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors, and shampoo carpets.
Contribute to the team and act professionally with customers, fellow employees, and others.
Perform other duties as assigned.
