The Lead Interface Engineer serves as the senior technical and operational lead for enterprise healthcare interoperability and as a key execution partner to the Director, Biomedical Systems & Enterprise Interoperability. The role translates Enterprise Decision Intelligence Architecture (EDIA) strategy and governance into technical plans, standards, and solutions, and leads the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of integrations across Epic, clinical, operational, device, data, and third-party systems. It identifies cross-platform dependencies and operational impacts, coordinates complex technical work, mentors engineers, and drives issues to resolution. The position provides technical leadership, independent judgment, and cross-functional influence while remaining an individual contributor. The role executes EDIA initiatives, develops integration roadmaps and technical standards, coordinates work across interoperability and related enterprise teams, and maintains integration views, dependency maps, data flows, interface inventories, and decision records. It assesses architectural gaps, technical debt, operational risks, integration constraints, patient-safety and security considerations, supportability, monitoring, downtime, testing, lifecycle, vendor, and resource impacts. It also works with governance functions to translate data ownership, stewardship, lineage, quality, access, privacy, security, compliance, and responsible-use requirements into practical interoperability controls. The engineer leads complex Epic, HL7, API, file-based, and other healthcare integration design and delivery; establishes engineering practices; and provides technical oversight for interface health, incidents, upgrades, releases, testing, deployment readiness, and production support. The role coordinates cross-team delivery, mentors engineers and analysts, develops reusable patterns and documentation, and supports capability planning and the development of a scalable EDIA operating model. The position is based in Austin, Texas, with 40 scheduled hours per week. Working conditions include standard office and remote-work technology, repetitive keyboard and computer workstation use, and scheduled after-hours maintenance, upgrade, go-live, or incident support as operationally required. The position is expected to continue, and the earliest start date is immediately.
