About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring a Lead Insulator in St. James, Louisiana. The role applies, removes, and repairs insulating material on exposed surfaces and structures—including air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings—to help control noise and maintain temperatures. The employee reads blueprints, selects and measures insulation materials, cuts them to the required size and shape, installs them according to specifications, and secures or seals the insulation. Other duties may be assigned. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any U.S. employer; Austin Industries cannot sponsor or assume sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Requirements

• NCCER certification.
• Valid TWIC Card.
• Driver’s License.
• Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
• Able to perform the job’s physical duties, including working at elevations and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
• Able to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
• Able to wear required personal protective equipment and meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements.
• Maintain a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Nice To Haves

• Four years of experience as an insulator is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and select the required insulation material.
• Work at heights.
• Brush adhesives onto insulation or attach metal adhesive applications to insulation material.
• Determine quantities and select insulation in sheet, tubular, or roll form based on heat-retention properties, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Measure and cut insulation to specified sizes and shapes using a tape measure or other measuring device, handsaw, knife, or scissors.
• Fit, wrap, or attach insulation to structures according to blueprint specifications.
• Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, using a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
