About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring an Insulator/Metal-man to apply, remove, and repair insulating material on exposed surfaces and structures—including air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings—to help control noise and maintain temperatures. The role involves interpreting blueprints, choosing and measuring insulation, cutting it to size, fitting it to structures, and securing or sealing it using appropriate materials and tools. Other duties may be assigned. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of journeyman-level experience.
• Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Able to meet the physical demands of the job, including regularly lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
• Able to perform the listed physical activities, including standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and using hands and arms.
• Required vision abilities include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and select the required insulation materials.
• Work at heights.
• Apply adhesive to insulation material or attach metal adhesive application to it.
• Determine quantities and select insulation material based on its heat-retention properties, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Measure and cut insulation to the specified size and shape using a tape measure or other measuring device and tools such as a handsaw, knife, or scissors.
• Fit, wrap, or attach insulation to structures according to blueprint specifications.
• Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, using tools such as a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
