About The Position

The Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will work in a project team environment with engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of instrumentation and control systems at the Fermi 2 power plant. The role includes occasional travel to Fermi Nuclear Generating Station in Newport, Michigan, and serving as a Sargent & Lundy representative at the site. Projects involve investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving electrical controls engineering issues for a nuclear power plant. The engineer will develop digital systems designs, including PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems; prepare control-system functional and implementation requirements and procurement specifications; and support project execution and client satisfaction. The position also involves producing and reviewing technical reports, calculations, studies, diagrams, and drawings; managing resources and estimates; supporting proposals; evaluating vendor bids; reviewing vendor documents; verifying equipment compliance; witnessing factory acceptance testing; and supporting project implementation at client facilities. Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing projects, including life extensions and digital modernization of existing plants, advanced reactor technologies, small modular reactors, reactor restart projects, coal-to-nuclear initiatives, and international nuclear projects.
