About The Position

Individual will serve as the Q.E.D. Systems Lead Instructor in support of a Surface Ship Training contract. The Lead Instructor shall participate in overall course development and is expected to provide training for Surface Warfare personnel. The Lead Instructor is responsible to assure all training courses are consistent for all training sites. The Lead Instructor, in conjunction with Contractor Program Manager (PM), shall be responsible for the overall performance of the task order, personnel supervision, timeliness and accuracy of deliverables, and correction of any real or perceived problem areas. The Lead Instructor, with the PM, shall interface with the COR on a monthly basis for review of overall contract performance and schedule. The Lead Instructor shall interface on a regular basis with the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for program review to include, but not limited to, overall course content, student survey, and metrics discussion. The Lead Instructor will provide process improvement recommendations to TYCOM staff regarding surface ship maintenance and maintenance management topics and will visit both Type Commanders semi-annually with the Program Manager for program reviews.

Requirements

  • Command of at least one United States surface ship as an O-5/O-6 with one tour at a Major Command Afloat level.
  • Demonstrated two (2) years recent (within last three (3) years) with current Fleet maintenance policies, processes, programs, and initiatives including the roles of Port Engineers, Availability Work Package Managers, Type Desk Officers, and Type Desk Assistants.
  • Demonstrated two (2) years� experience conducting technical briefs at the Senior Officer level (at least 05/06 level audience), ship's wardrooms, and ashore maintenance managers.
  • Demonstrated experience providing process improvement recommendations to senior level Naval staffs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with senior naval and civilian personnel in a senior or executive naval environment.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum development standards.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to access U.S. Navy ships, military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
