About The Position

The Lead Installer is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation of residential and commercial HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems. This role leads installation teams, ensures quality workmanship, adherence to safety protocols, and timely completion of projects. The Lead Installer serves as a mentor to apprentices and junior installers while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of installation experience in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical system installations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of safety standards, building codes, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds or more
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders or scaffolding
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor condition.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred
  • Technical or trade school training strongly preferred
  • EPA Section 608 Certification preferred (if HVAC)
  • Additional certifications (e.g., NATE, manufacturer-specific, hydronics) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform installation of HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems according to company standards, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications
  • Supervise and train installation team members, including apprentices and junior installers
  • Schedule and prioritize installation tasks to meet project deadlines
  • Ensure all installations comply with safety, building, and code requirements
  • Inspect work to maintain quality and identify potential issues before project completion
  • Collaborate with project managers, service technicians, and customers to ensure project success
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, materials used, and service reports
  • Operate, maintain, and inspect company tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation challenges on-site
  • Communicate professionally with customers, providing explanations and guidance on system operation
  • Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and manufacturer installation guidelines
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
