About The Position

The Learning Experience of Astoria is seeking a warm, nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic Lead Infant Teacher. The teacher creates a safe, loving, and engaging environment where infants can learn and reach developmental milestones through meaningful interactions, sensory exploration, music, movement, and age-appropriate educational activities. The role includes leading the infant classroom, maintaining care routines, communicating with families, and collaborating with assistant teachers.

Requirements

Previous experience working with infants in a licensed childcare center.
An associate's degree in early childhood education, or other qualifications that meet NYC requirements for a Lead Infant Teacher.
A genuine passion for infant development and early childhood education.
Patient, attentive, energetic, creative, and dependable.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to work as part of a team while confidently leading an infant classroom.

Responsibilities

Create a warm, safe, and nurturing classroom environment for infants.
Implement the age-appropriate infant curriculum, including sensory activities, music, movement, and early learning experiences.
Encourage developmental milestones, including tummy time, crawling, early communication, and fine and gross motor development.
Maintain consistent feeding, diapering, and nap routines while following safe sleep practices.
Observe and document children's developmental progress.
Build positive relationships with families through daily communication and updates.
Work collaboratively with assistant teachers to maintain an organized, engaging, and welcoming classroom.
Follow all health, safety, and childcare licensing regulations.
