About The Position

Kent is looking for a Lead HVAC Commissioning Technician to execute the pre-commissioning and commissioning, developing commissioning plans and procedures, ensuring pre-commissioning checks are performed, coordinating commissioning personnel, and compiling final documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience of HVAC testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
  • Fully trained in P&ID and HVAC diagram reading.
  • Qualified to handle abnormal and emergency situations Trained and qualified in the HVAC engineering and machinery fundamentals.
  • Qualified to carry out commissioning and fault finding on HVAC equipment such as chillers, AHUs, Filters, Louvers, Scrubbers, VAV’s, Packaged and Split AC’s, Pumps, Fan Chillers, Coolant Piping, Refrigerant and Piping, Hangers and Supports, including all types of duct work.
  • Qualified to carry out testing and charging of refrigeration systems and repair of pipework by brazing.
  • Qualified in airflow measurements and balancing HVAC systems.
  • Experience in testing and flow balancing of complex HVAC systems.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical, industrial, or HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
  • Good record of accomplishment of major project delivery in a technical role.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
  • Experience of commissioning complex plant.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Set-up and test instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Basic computer training such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Frontline execution planning activities for discipline related pre-commissioning and commissioning matters.
  • Reports to Discipline Commissioning Engineers on progress, receives execution direction and technical direction from the discipline commissioning engineers.
  • Supervise and field control of between 8 and 12 Discipline technicians and specialist vendors, inclusive of Assigning daily work duties to technicians and reports on completion of tasks.
  • Instruct, supervise and provide first line technical directions to technician teams, vendors and specialist subcontractors/third party personnel in the area to deliver to static and dynamic Commissioning targets.
  • Detail field level work preparation including materials, tools plant and equipment on a two-week look-ahead basis.
  • Oversee work packs such as loop folders and electrical work packs, check sheets are available for technician execution, as per commissioning schedule priorities.
  • Create and issue required permitting, isolations, zero energy states and full compliance with CSU and Area Prime Safe Working practices, methods and processes including JSA’s / Toolbox talks etc.
  • Adhere to safety related subjects outlined by Company such as RoK regulatory requirements, Environment Concerns, Safe Operations, Emergency Response, JSA, PPHA, permit to work, LOTO and SIMOPS.
  • Apply Incident & Injury Free culture and fully understand the expectations, duties and responsibilities.
  • Exhibits exemplary safety behaviour/culture.
  • Prepare permits to work applications using the permit to work system and lead the toolbox meeting and ensure that the JSA / PPHA is fully understood by the technicians and trainees to work with the mechanical / piping pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Act as mentor and supervise technicians and trainees.
  • Complete Pre-Commissioning/Commissioning activities as per project procedures.
  • Set up, calibrate and operate test equipment and record test data.
  • Solve problems by using a combination of standard procedures, modification of standard procedures.
  • Carry out the HVAC testing as per B and C check sheets.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.
