About The Position

Sentinel Dock & Door Solutions is one of Canada’s fastest-growing providers of commercial dock and door services. NEX Industrial Supplies Inc., part of the Sentinel group, is looking for a Lead Hand, Service Technician who takes pride in doing quality work and wants to be part of something that’s growing. This role involves leading and mentoring apprentices, diagnosing and repairing overhead doors and dock systems, performing on-site welding and fabrication, and ensuring excellent customer service and safety.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Lead Hand working with loading dock systems and commercial overhead doors
• Hands-on welding experience, with the ability to support on-site repairs and custom work
• Valid, clean driver’s license with reliable transportation to get you to and from job sites
• Strong mechanical aptitude - you’re confident using hand tools, power tools, and troubleshooting on the fly
• Comfortable working at heights and in fast-paced, physically active environments
• A positive, team-first mindset with a willingness to step up, support others, and get the job done right

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Service Technician Apprentices, helping develop the next generation of skilled trades professionals
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair overhead doors, loading dock systems, and related equipment - keeping operations running safely and efficiently
• Perform on-site welding and fabrication to support high-quality installations and repairs
• Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, and site documentation, including photos
• Take ownership of your tools and equipment- ensuring everything is well-maintained, safe, and ready to go
• Champion safety and customer experience on every job, delivering work you can stand behind
• Support and collaborate with teammates on more complex installs and service calls
• Communicate clearly with both customers and internal teams to keep projects moving and expectations aligned
