About The Position

Handling Systems & Conveyors (HSC) is a fast-growing company established in 1992, specializing in the manufacture of Overhead Bridge cranes and a full line of conveyors. HSC offers professional engineering services and uses advanced design software. All structural components are built to AWS D14.1 with an in-house AWS inspector and a full-time QUALITY Program. HSC has immediate openings in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a mid-level to experienced Overhead Hoist/Crane Technician with a strong customer focus. Field Service Technicians are primarily responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead crane systems. Familiarity with gear drives, bearings, couplings, wire rope hoist, chain hoist, VFD controls, remote control systems, and other crane & hoist components is essential. Candidates must pass a drug/alcohol test and extensive background check prior to employment. Additional testing may be required as directed by the customer. This is a service technician position only, not a crane operator position.

Requirements

  • Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform inspection to OSHA/ANSI criteria.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble complex equipment.
  • Ability to read drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Must be able to work at heights (20-100+ feet).
  • Must follow all safety guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Quality & results driven.
  • Good driving record.
  • Must be willing & able to work off shifts and weekends as required by the customer.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed by customer.
  • Must be able to serve “on call” as part of the service office rotation.
  • Must be able to travel out of town and overnight as needed.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Position requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching & overhead reaching.
  • Position requires occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling & crawling.
  • Position will frequently be exposed to heat, cold, noise and heights.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to fabricate and weld (certified).

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Effectively interface with customers and HSC customer service to communicate maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and make professional recommendations for repairs based on industry guidelines (OSHA, CMMA, NEC & ANCI).
  • Maintain a professional rapport with customers by efficiently responding to breakdowns, troubleshooting issues, and completing jobs within an acceptable timeframe.
  • Communicate with the customer on repairs and any recommended preventive maintenance and/or inspections that may be required to monitor the crane system.
