About The Position

Assists the Golf Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in the planning, organizing, assigning, training, and completion of grounds maintenance tasks and functions. Perform varied tasks required for the upkeep and care of golf course. Serves as the lead groundskeeper/irrigation tech to assist Golf Superintendent in overseeing golf course maintenance by receiving and implementing daily job assignments and ensuring grounds crew properly and efficiently maintain the golf course property using hand or power tools or equipment. Shall perform a variety of tasks to include supervision of and may include any combination of the following: irrigation repair, sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, watering, and fertilizing and pesticide spraying. The Irrigation Technician installs, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems for clubhouse, golf course and anywhere else on property as needed. They diagnose and troubleshoot problems, perform routine maintenance, and ensure systems operate efficiently and safely. Key responsibilities include installing pipes, wiring, valves, and sprinkler heads, repairing leaks and broken components, and adjusting irrigation schedules.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Driver’s license is required to operate equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds keeping, landscape area construction, and maintenance work.
  • Mechanical aptitude; knowledge of maintenance tools.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate fluently in English.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, organize and assign daily work tasks on job board to be completed based on golf course needs for the day or week.
  • Follow up that all assigned tasks are complete and meet desired expectations.
  • Suggest and implement changes in work practices for better efficiency and quality.
  • Respond to questions, resolve problems, and provide technical and other assistance to staff.
  • Assist in training new and current employees in the proper and safe operation of turf management equipment.
  • Planting, fertilizing, spraying and other gardening jobs as needed.
  • Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.
  • Keeps equipment storage room neat, clean and organized.
  • Completes inventory of irrigation supplies and informs manager when additional supplies are needed.
  • Install irrigation systems, and hand-change as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair of irrigation if skills allow or as requested.
  • Help monitor irrigation so that it will not interfering with golf course activities.
  • Keep all areas clean and sanitized as directed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a regular, consistent attendance record.
  • Shall perform other duties as needed.
