About The Position

As a Production Lead at Smithfield Foods, you will perform production tasks to process meat products and support coworkers and the management team. You will understand the full operations of the production line and assist with training and developing production employees. The role contributes to safe, high-quality food production and a positive, safe, and efficient work environment. The work can be physically demanding and requires hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. You must work your scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Perform continuous or repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching, and flexing and extending the arms.
Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
Work with a knife if trained.
Work in cold areas of approximately 20–40 degrees and/or warm areas over 100 degrees.
Work in wet and humid conditions, noisy environments, and around strong smells or odors.
Wear a hard hat, hearing and eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes; use personal protective equipment.
Work with sanitation and cleaning chemicals.
Climb and move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms.
Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift, and walk long distances.
Be able to meet the physical demands of the position, which may include repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 pounds, single lifts of objects up to 60 pounds, or lifting with mechanical assistance.
Work the scheduled shift and, if required by production demands, overtime.

Responsibilities

Use hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products.
Support the management team by understanding the full operations of the production line.
Support training and development of production employees.
Help maintain a safe and efficient production line and meet safety, quality, and teamwork standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
