About The Position

The Lead General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. This role involves tasks like replacing electrical receptacles, switches, and fixtures, patching minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, replacing water cooler filters and toilet seats, painting structures and equipment, replacing damaged floor tiles, hanging or adjusting doors, and cleaning rain gutters. The Lead General Maintenance Worker will also develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules, prioritize and assign maintenance requests, provide daily supervision of maintenance staff, review completed work for quality, and coordinate with government representatives on safety, environmental, and audit matters. A key requirement is the possession of an active DoD Common Access Card (CAC) and a DLA-issued email account for secure communications and taskings. The role requires the individual to be on-site or immediately available during DLA operating hours and to report to the Facilities Trouble Desk for dispatch as necessary. Work requests must be resolved within one business day, not to exceed three business days. The position also involves assisting with facility material movement and storage, and potentially minor travel to project locations. Requirements

  • Possess an active DoD Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Be on site or immediately available during DLA operating hours.
  • Be able and competent to accomplish all tasks without additional training or direct supervision.
  • Be willing and able to be dispatched as necessary for minor work order repair.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, switches, and fixtures.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Replace water cooler filters and toilet seats.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Replace damaged floor tiles.
  • Hang or adjust doors.
  • Clean rain gutters.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Prioritize and assign maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Provide daily supervision of maintenance staff.
  • Review completed work for quality and compliance.
  • Coordinate with Government representatives on safety, environmental and audit matters.
  • Maintain secure communications with DLA systems via CAC and DLA email.
  • Maintain minor building protective coatings.
  • Change lighting.
  • Replace carpet squares.
  • Replace registers and diffusers that are located six feet (6’) above the floor.
  • Replace broken power outlets and light switches.
  • Clear plugged drains up to 6’.
  • Repair wall paneling.
  • Repair or replace faucets and flushometers.
  • Replace ceiling fans.
  • Vacuum water from flooded areas during leak events.
  • Replace damaged, missing door transitions.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls.
  • Replace water cooler filters.
  • Clean single story building rain gutters of debris.
  • Patch floor cracks and spalls not to exceed 24 square inches.
  • Replace or repair door closures.
  • Perform Ground Maintenances.
  • Report to the Facilities Trouble Desk and be willing and able to be dispatched as necessary for minor work order repair.
  • Assist with facility material movement and storage.
  • Resolve problem work requests within one business day, not to exceed 3 business days.
  • Be courteous and professional when responding for repair work.
  • Accomplish all tasks without additional training or direct supervision.
  • Perform minor travel to project location(s).
