About The Position

The Lead General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. This role involves a variety of duties including replacing electrical receptacles, switches, and fixtures, patching minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, replacing water cooler filters and toilet seats, painting structures and equipment, replacing damaged floor tiles, hanging or adjusting doors, and cleaning rain gutters. The Lead General Maintenance Worker will also be responsible for developing and executing preventative maintenance schedules, prioritizing and assigning maintenance requests, providing daily supervision of maintenance staff, reviewing completed work for quality, and coordinating with government representatives on safety, environmental, and audit matters. A key requirement is the possession of an active DoD Common Access Card (CAC) and a DLA-issued email account for official communications and system access. The position requires the individual to be on-site or immediately available during DLA operating hours. The role also includes maintaining minor building protective coatings, changing lighting, replacing carpet squares, registers, and diffusers (up to six feet above the floor), replacing broken power outlets and light switches, clearing plugged drains, repairing wall paneling, faucets, flushometers, ceiling fans, and door transitions, patching floor cracks, and cleaning single-story building rain gutters. Ground Maintenance duties include reporting to the Facilities Trouble Desk, assisting with facility material movement and storage, and resolving problem work requests within one to three business days. Personnel are expected to be courteous, professional, and competent to perform all tasks without additional training or direct supervision. Minor travel to project locations may be required.

  • Ability to replace or repair door closures

  • Ability to resolve problem work requests within one business day and not to exceed 3 business days
  • Ability to be courteous and professional
