About The Position

The Lead Forklift Operator assists the Warehouse Supervisor in leading warehouse associates to meet productivity, quality, customer service, safety, and employee-relations goals. The role serves as team lead when the supervisor is absent and supports efficient warehouse operations, proper product handling, and customer satisfaction. The position is located at Suffolk II in Suffolk, Virginia, and works Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years of warehouse or inventory experience.
• Experience managing people and budgets.
• Computer and database application skills.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Ability to operate a lift truck.
• Forklift certification required upon commencement of work.
• Ability to lift and/or pull 50 pounds without restriction.
• Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours, including weekends and potentially holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

• 2+ years supervising warehouse or inventory staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as team lead when the supervisor is not present by answering employee questions, troubleshooting problems, and promoting efficient operations.
• Maintain a clean, professional, and safe working environment.
• Direct and coordinate warehouse operators’ activities in loading and unloading trucks and properly handling products.
• Assist warehouse operators as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist in maintaining warehouse security.
• Assist in training new and current operators.
