About The Position

Do you enjoy working with others? Are you a leader? Come join Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the Plaza West Tower as a Lead Food Service Worker. This position is Full Time and requires the ability to open and/or close. The Department of Food and Nutrition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of Patient, Retail and Catering Service areas on both the North and South Campus. This includes patient meal and Clinical Nutrition Services, Queeny Tower Restaurant, three Cafeterias and three Coffee Bars. The role of the department is to serve the needs of patients, visitors and employees with excellent customer service. Our qualified staff services the patients' nutritional needs during their hospital stay according to specified guidelines to improve their clinical status and assist in the healing process. Opportunities are available for all skill levels from entry-level positions to licensed and/or certified management positions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years experience
  • Must Be Able to Open and/or Close
  • Working on A Team
  • High School Transcript or GED Required

Nice To Haves

  • 5-10 years experience
  • < 2 years Supervisor Experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating all activities within assigned area including scheduling, training and direction of staff, conducting inspections to evaluate adherence to quality control standards, HACCP procedures, food code regulations and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) guidelines as determined by the Manager.
  • Manages cash control/ Security procedures.
  • Assumes responsibilities and ownership of the Department as a whole, inclusive of Patient and Cafeteria service; commissary and/or Hot/Cold Food Production; storeroom/inventory/drivers or Sanitation.
  • This position may require various types of automated equipment which would require training/certification.
  • Assists department management in coordinating and achieving department goals.
  • Assists with monitoring employee performance and schedules, training employees and building an effective work unit.
  • Provides education and ensures work unit follows proper job duty protocol, safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Works various positions where needed to ensure quality and timely delivery of service.
  • Works with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure completion of food safety measures and sanitation assignments.
