About The Position

We are hiring three Food Service Worker Lead roles within Dining Services: Production (Culinary Support Center), Utility (Northside Café), and Float (Hillside Café). While all positions share responsibility for supporting food service operations, maintaining sanitation standards, and fostering a positive work environment, each has a distinct focus. The Production Lead supports efficient food preparation and service, the Utility Lead oversees dishwashing and sanitation processes while leading staff, and the Float Lead collaborates with culinary teams on food preparation, presentation, and inventory management. To support WSU’s ability to attract talent in a competitive job market, this recruitment has been approved for a hiring incentive payment of up to $3,500.00. This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Utility is a 9-month cyclic appointment, for fiscal year 2026-2027 they would be working July 27 – December 18, 2026 and January 4 – May 15, 2027. Production is a 11-month cyclic appointment, for fiscal year 2026-2027 they would be working June 1 – December 12, 2026 and January 4 – May 15, 2027. Float is a 11-month cyclic appointment, for fiscal year 2026-2027 they would be working July 6 – December 18, 2026; January 4 – May 15, 2027, and June 2-June 26, 2027.

Requirements

  • Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler’s permit
  • One year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving
  • Six months experience directing the work of others
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
